National Portrait Gallery

The Grade I listed National Portrait Gallery annually welcomes over two million visitors. Following years of modifications that simply responded to circumstances, we have helped the gallery step back and work out how it can best shape itself for the future. We have created a masterplan strategy, which allows the gallery to meet the ambitions of its "Inspiring People Plan". We are working to improve the way visitors move within the building, looking at access, public and support facilities and identifying new areas for development. Spaces outlined for improvement include the main hall, the learning centre, the East wing, the entrance, the galleries, the basement cafe and the back of house.
