Reigate Housing
Reigate has an acute shortage of good quality affordable housing. Haworth Tompkins were asked to look at a site in the greenbelt to see if this shortage could be addressed through the positive integration of housing with the landscape, to provide popular, well managed open spaces and innovative sustainable homes. The vision was to develop a sustainable community of new homes at a scale appropriate and complimentary to the setting and its special character. The design encouraged permeability through the site both visually, by opening up views to the countryside beyond, and physically, by developing a woodland walk will provide a valuable ecological amenity.
