Hyde Housing Association commissioned Haworth Tompkins to look at a scheme for 400 new homes within a regeneration master plan for the Stonebridge Estate. The proposals provided improved accommodation for existing tenants and introduced a mixture of shared ownership and outright sale properties. Whilst the majority of new homes conformed with the strategy of earlier phases - two to three storey buildings in streets, courtyards and public open spaces - a number of five to six storey signpost buildings were proposed, facing into new open spaces and incorporating shops and other communal facilities.
