Beach House

Haworth Tompkins are designing a new house to the replace a derelict dwelling on the Irish West coast. The brief is for a contemporary home of the highest quality that will encapsulate the sense of place and respect the architectural vernacular. Informed by the precedent of the traditional Irish long house, the proposed design adopts a narrow plan form, taking full advantage of sea views, while the stepped site layout has been configured to create sheltered courtyards and harmonise the new building into the landscape.
