Royal Academy of Dance

The Royal Academy of Dance moved to its current premises in Battersea Square in the early 70s and now occupies a number of adjacent buildings arranged around a courtyard. However, the evolving role of the RAD has placed a number of pressures on the existing premises. Haworth Tompkins has been commissioned to carry out a feasibility study to look at the redevelopment of their site. The brief asks for a new performance studio for to seat up to 200 people, additional teaching studios, additional administrative spaces and improved access and public facilities. The scheme would need to be phased to allow the RAD to continue to operate through out the works.
