pulley light
The lighting scheme for the Everyman includes a number of single warm dimming LED lamps which can be dimmed to a low, almost candlelight level. Different types, fixings and varying pendant hanging heights were chosen to suit the character of each area. These are supplemented in the first floor theatre bar with reconditioned theatrical lanterns from the Everyman’s old stock. The overall scheme is controlled by a scene setting dimming system. The fittings, developed with lighting designers DHA and manufacturers Mike Stoane Lighting, are based around a simple mild steel tube enclosing a lamp holder. The warmth of the low light levels are enhanced by copper reflector discs of varying diameters. Surface mounted versions are fixed to exposed concrete or timber soffits. Counterweighted rise and fall fittings in the basement bistro allow the lights to be pulled low over tables referencing backstage theatrical ropes and pullies.
