Graham is a founding director of Haworth Tompkins. He led a diverse portfolio of work covering new and existing buildings for higher education, cultural, and commercial clients, together with placemaking and masterplanning work for education, workspace, housing and culture. He is a leading advocate of industrial co-location and mixed-use regeneration, which overlaps housing provision with employment space to create new ways of living and working.
Graham studied at the Universities of Nottingham and Cambridge. Upon graduation in 1984, he worked in the USA, at Skidmore Owings & Merrill, and at Bennetts Associates, before founding Haworth Tompkins with Steve Tompkins in 1991. Graham has lectured and been a visiting critic at several leading schools of architecture including the University of Cambridge, the AA, Yale University and Georgia Tech. He has also contributed to several publications and television programmes including The Art Show, Dreamspaces, and Buildings That Shaped Britain. In 2024, Graham stepped down as a director at HT and welcomed his new role providing support as a consultant to the studio.
